The town has a long and rich history, mainly owing to the healthy thermal spas around which many people gathered and built their settlements. However, the critical moment for the development of the town and the healing baths was the arrival of Count Antun Janković in 1745, who gave the town the Hungarian name of Daruvar. In addition to the famous Daruvar spa, the town has managed to maintain its image as a green town. It is decorated by flower filled parks and centuries old trees, and has inherited and preserved its values and beauty. The growth of vines has a hundred year tradition here as the fertile and sunny hills of Papuk offer ideal conditions for grape growing. For this reason, Daruvar holds the Vinodar event, an exhibition of wines from continental Croatia.
