Caprera is the second largest island of the archipelago, as well as a completely protected area, connected to the Maddalena by a bridge of 600 meters built in 1958. In addition to its beauty, the island is famous as the last residence of Giuseppe Garibaldi, who preserves its his memoirs. Characterized by a rocky eastern part, steep and covered with Mediterranean scrub, and by a western one with flat expanses and a vast pine forest, it also has the oldest sailing center in Italy and the largest in the Mediterranean, the only one with accommodation for visitors.
